Coolsculpting Toronto

Do you ever look in the mirror and see a few bulges that you’d rather were toned and smooth instead?

Do you struggle when trying to shed those last five pounds of love handles and can’t quite pull up your jeans? Does your “turkey neck,” “jelly belly,” or “back fat” hinder your self-confidence?

You are not alone. Everyone has certain trouble spots they struggle to tighten and tone regardless of diet and exercise.

For years, plastic surgery was the only way to effectively zap the fat. However, advances in research and innovative technology have produced a new, scientifically proven and FDA-approved non-surgical option called CoolSculpting.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting in Toronto is a non-invasive, cosmetic medical procedure that works to reduce excess fat cells. The procedure is formally known as cryolipolysis and involves the use of cold temperatures applied to a variety of treatment areas to break down adipose tissue (fat cells).

The idea was derived from scientific research on body fat’s response to frostbite. They discovered that the fat cells froze at a much higher temperature than the skin. Therefore the use of a CoolSculpting tool will target the fat while leaving the surrounding tissues intact.

Say Goodbye to Stubborn Fat with CoolSculpting

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

As CoolSculpting is not surgery, and does not involve the use of needles, how does it work?

CoolSculpting uses a tool made up of two paddles that rapidly drop in temperature. The target treatment area is placed between the paddles, and once cooled, they are left in position for a period of 30 minutes to over an hour, depending on the size and structure of the area.

While the paddles are active, the CoolSculpting procedure works to reduce up to 25% of the treatment area’s fat cells.

This is a slow process in terms of results. There is no immediate solution, but rather a series of progress over the coming weeks and even months as the immune system sheds the targeted “dead fat cells.” The number of treatments and length of treatment times will vary on a case-by-case basis, and will be decided by your certified medical esthetician.

Who should get CoolSculpting?

Like with any medical or cosmetic treatment, CoolSculpting in Toronto is not for everyone. While it is a great way to beat the bulge, tighten and tone, it is not a weight loss solution. Please let your provider know if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Raynaud’s Phenomenon: a change that occurs in flare-ups or attacks where parts of the body, namely fingers and toes, become numb, cold, and change in colour.
  • Paroxysmal Cold Hemoglobinuria: a rare blood disorder where cold temperatures stimulate the body to produce antibodies to attack their own red blood cells.
  • Cryoglobulinemia: a condition where cold temperatures cause the production of abnormal blood proteins that clump together, impair blood flow restriction, and end-organ damage.
  • Cold urticaria: A skin reaction that results in the outbreak of hives when exposed to cold temperatures.

Other factors to consider that do not make for an ideal CoolSculpting candidate include:

  • Those with obesity

  • Those with loose skin

  • Those with poor skin tone

  • Those who are pregnant or nursing

  • Those who have issues with cold temperatures

What areas of the body are amenable to CoolSculpting?

Many areas of the body are suitable for treatment. Common areas where this procedure is performed include:

  • The abdomen (belly)

  • The thighs

  • The upper arms

  • The bra line

  • The back and sides

  • The chin

  • The jawline

Areas that must be avoided include:

  • Any area with lesions, rashes, wounds, or open sores. (Please call to reschedule your appointment if you are currently suffering from these on the day of your booked treatment. We can advise a better time for treatment).

  • Any area with known neurological (nerve) complications and/or conditions.

  • The upper arms

  • Any area with vascular (vein) complications and/or conditions.

What are the risks associated with CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting, like any medical procedure, is not devoid of risk. Some common side effects you may experience include:

  • Bruising

  • Redness

  • Stinging or tingling sensation

  • Aches and pains

  • Tenderness

  • Firmness or feeling of fullness

It is important to note that the rarer, more concerning risk is the 1% who develop a condition known as Paradoxical Adipose (fat) Hyperplasia. This is when the procedure works in an inverse fashion, leading to an increased number of fat cells in the treatment zone.

This can occur anywhere from three to nine months after the treatment. This side effect is not self-limiting and may require surgical intervention to correct. Always consult with your medical doctor and our educated staff before undergoing treatment.

Those most susceptible to this condition include:

  • Those assigned male at birth

  • Those of Hispanic origin

  • Those with specific genetic factors

  • Those with larger portions of adipose tissue (fat)

  • Those with a known history of cryolipolysis (CoolSculpting), especially in the abdominal region.

What are the benefits associated with CoolSculpting?

You can look forward to the treated area looking tighter, trimmer, and more toned. The treatment results are permanent, and the cells that are destroyed will not return.

That said, weight gain can cause new fat cells, which will require additional care if desired.

Some additional benefits include:

  • Nonsurgical and noninvasive

  • Minimal downtime

  • A quick return to daily activities (you can even drive yourself home from the procedure)
